Areas of Expertise

Alice is a Partner in our Banking, Governance and Corporate team.

Alice qualified into the Banking, Corporate and Governance team in 2014 having completed her training contract at Devonshires. She joined the partnership in 2021.

Alice advises on a wide range of transactions including bank funding, bond issues, private placements, financial due diligence, loan security arrangements and intra-group funding.

Alice also leads the firm’s consumer credit work, advising many Registered Providers and Registered Social Landlords on consumer credit regulation, assisting with applications and variations for FCA permissions, advice on how to avoid regulation and on remaining compliant when regulated.

Alice graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BA in English and Philosophy before completing the GDL and LPC at BPP College in Holborn.


Personal

Alice enjoys most sports and is on the lookout for her next half marathon. Her enthusiasm for football, and Liverpool FC, is confined to the armchair.

Notable Cases

Alice advised London & Quadrant Housing Trust on the establishment of its EMTN Programme and subsequently its issue of the sector’s first Sustainability Linked Bonds. This was followed by the transition of L&Q’s main loan portfolio to adopt sustainability linked metrics, all of which were completed with reference to L&Q’s Sustainable Finance Framework and the association’s ambition for net-zero carbon.

Alice advised Octavia Housing on a £180m refinancing which included new and refinanced facilities from three different bank lenders and all of which incorporated KPIs to enable Octavia Housing to convert the loans into Sustainability Linked Loans.

Alice advised MORhomes on the establishment of its EMTN Programme and layered debt model. She has been its key lawyer on all issues and tap issues of Notes under the Programme and loans to registered provider borrowers and on its annual Programme update since establishment.

Alice advised Southern Housing on the consumer credit and financial regulated aspects of the merger between Optivo and Southern Housing Group, including managing the FCA application process to ensure the authorisation required for the new entity was confirmed on the merger date, consolidating the regulated activities of the merging associations, supporting Southern Housing with updating and creating the required policies for ongoing compliance with FCA rules and dealing with a portfolio of historic equity loans.
