Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme Commences

Wednesday, 30 November 2011

The first phase of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme for the non-domestic sector opened for applications on Monday 28th November 2011.

The RHI scheme, which will be run by Ofgem, will provide payments over a 20 year period for heat generated from eligible renewable technologies.  The start of the scheme has been delayed due to DECC's application to the European Commission for state aid approval and amendments to the draft RHI regulations which had to be re-submitted to Parliament for approval.

Phase 2 of the scheme, which will apply to the domestic sector, is not due to commence until October 2012.
