Jonathan is a Partner and leads the Corporate Team.
Jonathan has a wide-ranging corporate practice including mergers and acquisitions, disposals and restructurings; insolvency advice; joint ventures; equity and debt fundraisings; private equity and investment funds. His clients include Plcs, SMEs, entrepreneurs and housing sector entities.
As well as transactional matters, Jonathan also advises clients on different types of commercial contracts including distribution and marketing; IP/IT licences; Development Agreements; Supply of Goods and Services; Consortium Arrangements; and Franchising and Outsourcing.
Jonathan acted for the management team on the ‘take private’ of City recruiter Whitehead Mann (the AIM deal of the Year 2007 and first hedge-fund backed public-to-private deal in the City).
He also acts for marketing and media related companies and their owners on buying and selling businesses including publishers, advertising agencies, PR companies, digital marketing agencies amongst others. Corporate finance is also a central part of Jonathan’s diverse practice including AIM admissions for a Jersey based investment company; loan note and equity fundraisings for an ‘environmentally, friendly customer loyalty scheme and ‘smart meter’ provider.
Has acted for a number of the insolvency practitioners at the Top 20 accountancy firms, and also for a number of FA Premier League football clubs, motor racing teams and other sporting bodies particularly in relation to image rights and child protection and became an acknowledged expert on the Bosman judgment. Jonathan’s sporting background also extends to having played in the dim, distant past for Northampton “Saints”, Rosslyn Park and London Welsh RFCs and he now competes in triathlons to raise money for charity.
