We have the ability and expertise to advise on all aspects of Leasehold law from non-contentious advice on the interpretation of leases and leaseholder rights to contentious issues such as forfeiture claims against leaseholders, recovery of service charges in the County Court and challenges in the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal.
Since the changes introduced in the Housing Act 1996 and the Common-hold and Leasehold Reformat 2002, we have become increasingly involved in Leasehold Valuation Tribunal cases, involving challenges to service charges. In the past year for example, we have dealt with a dozen Leasehold Valuation Tribunal Act challenges for registered providers and also some Residents Associations. Because of the importance of effective record keeping and accounting in these cases, we provide specific training on this aspect of Leasehold Law and we work with recognised expert consultants in the service charge field to advise on best practice, and also to act as expert witnesses in front of the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal.
