How do you comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty?

How do you comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty?

This year has seen three important court decisions (Devonshires have been instructed on two) on Section 149 of the Equality Act 2010 (the Public Sector Equality Duty “PSED”). This session will take you through the law and how to comply with it. The session will also give guidance on what to do if the duty is breached or otherwise not complied with. Devonshires have been instructed on two of the leading authorities on the PSED, having successfully represented registered providers of social housing in the High Court and Court of Appeal earlier this year.

Topics Covered:

  • What is the Public Sector Equality Duty?
  • How do you comply with it?
  • What to do if it is has been breached?
  • What have the recent cases said about it?
  • How will the cases impact on registered providers of social housing?
  • Practical steps of what a registered provider of social housing will need to do;
  • Guidance that will help landlords assess whether their policies and procedures are sufficiently robust.
