Areas of Expertise

James is a third-seat Trainee Solicitor in our Construction team, having previously completed seats in our Housing Management & Property Litigation team and our Real Estate & Projects team.

Experience

James commenced his training contract in September 2024, and has successfully completed seats in the following practise areas:

Housing Management & Property Litigation (second seat)
Real Estate & Projects (first seat)

James joined Devonshires on 15 November 2021 to work in the Housing Management & Property Litigation team, where he routinely accepted instructions in housing litigation cases across a broad spectrum of housing and property litigation claims. He later started his training contract in our Real Estate & Projects team, where he assisted the team in a wide range of varied commercial and residential transactions, before returning to the Housing Management & Property Litigation team for his second seat. He is currently working in the Construction, Engineering & Procurement team.

Before joining Devonshires, James worked as a Litigation Paralegal in an award-winning North London law firm from 2017 – 2021 acting across a variety of practice areas including: housing, community care, and public and administrative law.

Education

In July 2023 James attained a Master’s Degree in Legal Practice (LLM) at the University of Law, London (Bloomsbury), having previously obtained a post-graduate diploma in Legal Practice after completing the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, London (Bloomsbury) with Commendation in July 2022.

At undergraduate level, James attained an upper second-class qualifying Law degree (LLB) from Queen Mary University of London in 2016.

Personal

In his spare time James likes to read, play guitar, weightlift and go on hikes with friends.

James has been playing guitar since he was around 12 years old and whenever he is not playing the instrument he likes attending concerts to see his favourite bands perform.
