Devonshires Hold Annual Charity Cheque Presentation

Last night Devonshires was delighted to hold its annual charity cheque presentation to recognise the great work of our three nominated charities and to present them with cheques totalling more than £53,000.

We were pleased to welcome representatives from Friends of the Elderly, Action For Kids and Theatre Royal Stratford East who discussed the vital work they undertake in the community and their plans for the next 12 months.

A total of £53,237 has been raised in 2017/18, including match-funding by the Devonshires Foundation, our charitable organisation which was set-up to support charities through financial assistance and volunteering.

A big thank you to our staff and generous supporters who participated in a number of fundraising activities ranging from bake sales to making a valiant attempt on a world record cycling Ireland North to South (yes – the wrong way) to raise much needed funds.

CSR Partner Donna McCarthy said: “I am incredibly proud of what we do and the fact that people are so generous not only with their money, but also with their time. I believe what we do is truly innovative and that social value runs through our business.

“After another fantastic year of fundraising, we are delighted to present these cheques to our well-deserved charities and make a difference to all the people these charities support and work with.”

Gemma Leary, Group Fundraising Manager at Friends of the Elderly said: “Thank you to everyone for their support and hard work. It’s great to see so many people from across the firm get involved”.

Lyn Prodger, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Action For Kids said: “We can’t thank everyone enough at Devonshires for choosing to support Action For Kids again. Our long-term partnership is valued enormously by everyone here – the fundraising, the volunteering and the special days you provide make the biggest difference to the children and young people we work with”.

Founded in 1905, Friends of the Elderly is one of the UK’s oldest charities supporting older people, their vision a society where all older people are treated with respect and have the opportunity to lead fulfilled lives. They have been Devonshires charity partner since 2016.

Action For Kids helps and empowers disabled young people by providing employment and training opportunities, as well as specialist and life-changing equipment not available from the NHS such as bikes and trikes. Action For Kids has been a Devonshires charity partner since 2011.

The Theatre Royal Stratford East has been a Devonshires charity partner for seven years and is committed to developing new work that represents the aspirations and concerns of their diverse local community, including youth arts and education.
