Housing Possession Mediation Pilot Scheme

MHCLG has now published their guidance for the new housing possession mediation service, announced earlier this year.

This is in response to the impact on possession cases and court capacity following the restrictions on possession claims and evictions throughout the pandemic.

This Scheme is free and open to landlords and tenants involved in housing possession proceedings, running for an initial period of six months.

This Scheme is intended to complement and integrate with the other measures put in place by government to deal with possession proceedings. The pilot will allow parties to a possession claim to access formal mediation services (where both parties agree) at the review stage of the court process.
