Mind the Gap: Review into build out of planning permissions for housing

A government review into the gap between housing completions and the amount of land allocated or permissioned is about to commence.

Sir Oliver Letwin will lead the review into the build out of planning permissions into homes in areas of high housing demand and make recommendations for closing it. The review will seek to identify the causes of this gap and identify ways in which the speed of building out could be increased so as to enable increased supply of much needed housing in the short term but also ensuring that in the long term house prices rise slower than earnings.

An interim report is expected in time for the Spring Statement 2018 with a full report ready for Budget 2018.
