Consultation launched for notice periods for converted standard contracts under the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016
One aim of the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 (‘the Act’) when it comes into force on 1 December 2022, is to improve security of tenure and a way of achieving this is by increasing the period of notice that a landlord must give when seeking repossession where the tenant is not at fault.

On 30 May 2022 the Welsh Government announced that they would be postponing the implementation of the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 (the Act) until 1 December 2022. The implementation date will no longer be 15 July 2022.

The Welsh Government has recently launched a consultation for a new quality standard aimed at improving conditions of social housing in Wales. The Welsh Housing Quality Standard 2023 (‘WHQS 2023’) will apply to all Registered Social Landlords and Local Housing Authorities.
