Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016: implementation date postponed

On 30 May 2022 the Welsh Government announced that they would be postponing the implementation of the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 (the Act) until 1 December 2022. The implementation date will no longer be 15 July 2022. The Minister’s statement can be found here.

Devonshires have been working closely with Community Housing Cymru about the tight timetable that was in place and our concerns relating to lender compliance requirements. It is good to see that the Welsh Government have listened to those concerns and Registered Social Landlords will now have more time to prepare for the raft of new reforms the Act will bring with it.

If you would like further advice on the Act, or on our work on lender consents and with CHC, and what we can do to help you prepare for implementing the new tenancy requirements, then do get in touch.
