Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016: implementation date postponed
On 30 May 2022 the Welsh Government announced that they would be postponing the implementation of the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 (the Act) until 1 December 2022. The implementation date will no longer be 15 July 2022.
Welsh Housing Quality Standard 2023: Consultation Commences
The Welsh Government has recently launched a consultation for a new quality standard aimed at improving conditions of social housing in Wales. The Welsh Housing Quality Standard 2023 (‘WHQS 2023’) will apply to all Registered Social Landlords and Local Housing Authorities.

The Fire Safety Act, having been introduced to Parliament in March 2020 and received Royal assent in April 2021, has finally come into force on 16 May 2022.
The Government publishes its new Procurement Bill
Following its recent consultation on the reform to the UK’s public procurement regime, the Government has now published its eagerly awaited new Procurement Bill.
The Subsidy Control Act 2022 became law at the end of April 2022
The new regime is expected to come into force in Autumn 2022. Until then, public authorities are required to continue to follow the existing rules on subsidy control (as set out in the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (the TCA), the World Trade Organisation rules on subsidies, the Northern Ireland Protocol and free trade agreements with other countries).
