Devonshires win another national award for sustainability

Devonshires have won the highly commended award for Resource Conservation at the national Sustainable City Awards. We were also shortlisted for the Responsible Waste Management category.

We were recognised for our Waste Management initiative, under which we have conserved 1,267,200 litres of water and saved 174,000 kWhs of energy per year. We are currently recycling 92% of all of our office waste including food waste which we anaerobically digest to create electricity. We are aiming for 97%. Given that when we started our recycling rate was around 10%, we believe we have made huge strides already and are on target to achieve our aims by 2016.

The Sustainable City Awards are given to organisations which have demonstrated excellence in sustainable development and are highly coveted. This comes on top our recent platinum award at the Clean City Awards, something that we have achieved for the past 6 years.
