The briefing will focus on The Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government’s proposal for a specialist housing court which it says will “provide a single path of redress” for both tenants and landlords.
The current consultation, which looks for the views and experiences of those using the courts and tribunal services in property cases, closes on 22 January 2019.
The session will facilitate discussion on the concerns and strengths a new housing court may present for landlords. It will be invaluable to those who are preparing or contemplating a response to the consultation.
The sessions will be of particular use for those who deal with legal proceedings (from housing directors, income teams to in-house legal officers) through to those involved in policy.
Topics Covered:
- What is the Government’s proposal?
- What would a new housing court look like?
- What does the consultation ask for?
- Is a housing court a good or bad thing for landlords?
- What are the current roles of the County Court and First-tier Tribunal in property cases?
- Will it bring around a reduction of costs and legal spend?
- Will it improve timescales in housing management issues?
