Amid concerns about the impact the Coronavirus pandemic has had on people’s financial situations, it is clear that the Courts will be looking with greater scrutiny at possession claims based upon rent arrears now that the temporary stay on possession claims has been lifted. Landlords will therefore wish to ensure that they are doing everything right when seeking to proceed with or bring new possession claims based upon rent arrears in order to avoid any issues at Court.

In this Webinar, we will review the steps Landlords should be taking prior to issuing or continuing with possession claims based upon rent arrears in order to assist Landlords in ensuring their claims have the best chance of success. This will include consideration of the parts of the Pre-Action Protocol for Possession Claims by Social Landlords relating to claims based on rent arrears, the new notice requirements for the rent arrears grounds for possession and the provisions of the new Practice Direction 55C. The Webinar will be of use for the staff of social housing providers who are involved in the recovery of rent arrears.
