Ban on commercial evictions extended to 30 June 2021

The Government has announced that the ban on commercial evictions has been extended to 30 June 2021.

This is to ensure that businesses, especially those that have been deemed as non-essential during the lockdown, have the opportunity to kickstart their business once they are allowed to trade again without the threat of immediate closure.

It is hoped as we now move towards summer with almost 20,000,000 covid-19 vaccinations administered in the UK to date that the future will also be brighter for the wider economy.

As highlighted in our Commercial Tenancies – 10 steps to take to protect your assets in unfamiliar times publication, the engagement between landlords and tenants in these unprecedented times gives both parties business continuity enabling them to make strategic decisions for the future particularly where there are lenders involved.

If we can provide further assistance in relation to any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact partner Dan Moan who specialises in Commercial Property.
