|Rent regulation is not always as straight forward as it should be, but with the increasing power of the regulator it is important to be sure of the requirements.|
We are running a second webinar for asset owning local authorities focused on the rent standard, policy statement, the role of the regulator and your responsibilities. Altair and Devonshires will examine these policies, the key challenges to compliance and what they mean for your rent setting.
While assessing the essential requirements, the session will also provide useful insight on areas of the standard which are most difficult to get right. Join us for a comprehensive overview of the Rent Standard and how it applies to you, as well as lessons learned from our work with local authorities and recent investigations. We will have a short presentation based on the following questions, followed by a panel discussion with expert speakers and questions from the audience:
- What are your current responsibilities?
- How do you ensure you are compliant?
- What can we expect from the regulator in the future?
- How does this interact with land policy?
The webinar will be hosted by Fiona Underwood, CEO Altair with guest speakers:
Nick Billingham, Partner, Devonshires
Drawing upon his experience of supporting Housing Providers and Local Authorities with their policies and procedures, rent and service charge issues, and compliance with Regulation, Nick Billingham, Partner, Devonshires will provide insight into the key legal requirements Local Authorities need to consider to ensure they are compliant with the Regulations.
Jim Lashmar, Director Altair
Jim will bring his experience of advising on financial modelling of rents and regulatory compliance for Local Authorities and Registered Providers to highlight some of the key issues that have arisen with the implementation of the Rent Standard, and with the calculation of rents in accordance with regulatory requirements.
