Insurance expert joins Devonshires team


Devonshires expands Litigation & Dispute Resolution team with hire of recognised insurance practitioner, Stephen Netherway.

With over 30 years’ experience, Stephen will be joining our Litigation & Dispute Resolution team and will help form a new practice area.

Prior to joining Devonshires, Stephen was a senior Insurance and Reinsurance partner in CMS Litigation and Arbitration group, being appointed partner in 2001 after joining from Dentons as an associate in 1993. Stephen was also Head of CMS UK’s Insurance sector at CMS UK.

Stephen has wide-ranging disputes and arbitration experience and particularly in respect of major insurance and reinsurance disputes, coverage issues and claims. These frequently involve cross-border or multi-jurisdictional issues. He also has considerable trial experience, from major and appellate UK Law Courts, to domestic and international arbitration panels. Stephen is a CEDR accredited mediator.

Stephen started Devonshires on 1 May 2019, and his appointment will bring the total number of partners in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution team to 6, supported by a team of solicitors and support staff.
