Devonshires Solicitors has bolstered its banking, governance and corporate team with the appointment of Martin Lewis as a consultant

A chartered company secretary since 1997, Martin will provide Registered Providers (RPs) with a broad range of company secretarial and governance services, including advice on mergers and restructures, compliance audits, and best practice.

He joins from asra Housing Group where he spent five years as head of its company secretarial and legal services team, and played a key role in restructuring the group through mergers, acquisitions and disposals.

Andrew Cowan, senior partner and head of the firm’s banking, governance and corporate team, said:

“Martin’s career has seen him advise boards and chief executives at both private and not-for-profit organisations. He was also instrumental in helping asra to boost performance with a new governance arrangement, which many RPs have since copied. This expertise and wealth of experience will significantly enhance our service offering for clients, in particular RPs which are facing unprecedented change and industry challenges.”

Martin added: “Devonshire’s has an unrivalled reputation in the social housing sector, so I’m looking forward to joining its expert team and helping to expand and enhance its renowned services across the industry.”
