This in person session will be interactive, with the audience encouraged to participate and share their experiences and insights.

Speakers

Donna McCarthy, Consultant, Housing Management and Property Litigation 

Donna is a Consultant in our Housing Management & Property Litigation team.

She has over 30 years’ experience advising on all aspects of housing management law and practice, acting for Local Authorities, Registered Providers, care and support providers and private landlords in complex litigation, including matters in the higher courts and judicial review actions. She has particular expertise in advising and representing clients on Human Rights, Public Law and Equality Act challenges and following her successes in the cases of London and Quadrant HT v Patrick [2019] EWHC 1263 (QB) and Forward v Aldwyck Housing Group [2019] EWCA Civ 1334 is particularly noted for her expertise in dealing with claims relating to compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty.

Pauline Lepissier, Partner, Litigation & Dispute Resolution 

Pauline has a broad practice resolving disputes for clients across a wide range of sectors and acting in complex inquests.

Pauline is adept at finding practical solutions for clients that take into account commercial objectives, including cost-effective resolutions and the protection of reputations.

Pauline advises clients on a wide range of contentious matters, including fraud prevention, investigation, and recovery, contractual disputes and termination, regulatory investigations and intellectual property disputes.

Pauline has a particular expertise in disputes arising out of PFI contracts and the facilities management sector.

Michael Wharfe, Partner, Construction 

Michael’s practice is heavily weighted towards contentious matters for housing associations and public bodies, with a particular focus on large complex disputes in commercial, insurance, engineering and construction matters.

His current workload centres around defects disputes, in particular the fire safety of rainscreen cladding systems on high rise buildings, and claims under latent defects policies.

As a thought leader, Michael publishes extensively on statutory, caselaw and industry developments, and frequently comments for industry publications.

Kerri Harrison, Partner, Housing Management and Property Litigation 

Kerri advises on all aspects of housing management law and practice, acting for Local Authorities, Registered Providers, care and support providers and private landlords.

She has particular expertise in advising and representing housing and care and support providers. She advises in respect of safeguarding, applications to the Court of Protection and mental capacity issues.

Kerri also regularly advises on matters involving the Housing Ombudsman including reviewing policies and procedures in light of recommendations and orders, and providing training on compliance with the Housing Ombudsman Code.

Charlotte Sawyer, Partner, Real Estate and Projects 

Charlotte advises on tenanted stock and portfolio transfers with a particular emphasis on dealing with shared ownership portfolios. Charlotte also undertakes complex development work, including dealing with option agreements and complex lease arrangements involving building leases and call option structures for a number of Registered Providers and charitable bodies.

Charlotte also has experience dealing with landlord and tenant matters, sale contracts, leases, transfers and ancillary documentation for development projects.

Georgia Maskell, Solicitor, Housing Management and Property Litigation

Georgia is a Solicitor in our Property Litigation and Housing Management team and Information team.

As part of the Information team, Georgia regularly advises clients on dealing with complex subject access requests, data breaches and general compliance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

On the HMPL side, Georgia assists clients on contentious matters such as anti-social behaviour and access injunctions and possession claims, and non-contentious matters such as advising on breach of lease issues, regeneration advice and service charge disputes.
