Good legal advice only has an impact if the business hears it, understands it and acts on it.

Join us for a practical, interactive webinar designed for in-house lawyers looking to communicate and influence more effectively with colleagues across the organisation.

The session will explore what different stakeholders need from Legal, how to recognise and adapt your own communication style, particularly under pressure, and how to build the trust and credibility needed to influence decisions without formal authority.

Led by Pauline Lépissier, Partner at Devonshires, alongside Jeremy Fussell and Adam Armstrong of Herald Training, who bring over 30 years of experience in learning and development.  The session will provide practical techniques for communicating legal advice clearly, navigating challenging conversations and encouraging action.

Participants will leave with a simple four-step framework – Understand, Adapt, Influence, Act – which they can apply when planning important conversations across the business.

    • Know your audience: what senior management, Finance, HR and Operations each need from Legal, and why we tend to communicate as if everyone thinks like us
    • Adapt your communication style: recognising your default style and flexing it, whether that means big picture or detail, opportunity or risk, or thinking out loud or taking time to reflect
    • Influence without authority: building trust and credibility, connecting advice to what matters to others, challenging constructively and handling pushback
    • Saying no well: keeping the relationship and the conversation moving
    • Moving to decisions: using the Understand, Adapt, Influence, Act framework to turn conversations into action
