Areas of Expertise

Carlos has a breadth of experience advising Registered Providers on a range of financial arrangements including bond issues, private placements, syndicated and bilateral loan facilities ranging from £1 million to £500 million. Carlos drafts and negotiates a variety of facility/bond documentation including certificates of title, legal charges and allocation certificates working closely with the Banking Team as part of the deal. In addition, Carlos regularly advises clients on the suitability of properties as security to a lender and carries out deeds of variation for clients to make properties suitable as security or to uplift their value. Further Carlos carries out document reviews for clients looking to acquire properties and development sites advising them on their suitability for security to a lender, as well as working alongside our Real Estate Team in their stock acquisition matters.


Experience

Carlos joined Devonshires Solicitors in 2013 and has been an integral member of the Securitisation team ever since.


Education

Carlos attended City University graduating with a 2:1 law degree with honours and completed the LPC with a Distinction at City Law School.

Notable Cases

Carlos acted for Network Homes Limited on their recent £200 million private placement.

Carlos advised Notting Hill Genesis on two new revolving credit facilities totalling £175 million and arranging the release of security from an existing facility.

Carlos advised Coastline Housing Limited on their new £50 million facility agreement under the Government’s Affordable Homes Guarantee Scheme.

Carlos was part of a team that acted on the merger of Southern Housing Group and Optivo to create Southern Housing, one of the largest Registered Social Landlord’s in the southeast of England. Carlos was part of the team which advised Southern Housing on the property security element of the merger.
