Areas of Expertise

The main area of David’s practice is dispute resolution with a focus on high value, complex, multi-jurisdictional commercial litigation and commercial fraud investigations. He acts for companies and businesses within and outside the UK in many of the ‘offshore’ jurisdictions. His clients include; companies, government bodies, housing associations, military, regulators and private individuals.

David’s practice includes claims and disputes concerning commercial fraud, extradition, POCA, money laundering, tax investigations (COP9/COP10), professional negligence, insolvency litigation, asset tracing, debt recovery, shareholder and other corporate disputes. More recently, David has seen a rise in client’s seeking advice on cryptocurrency related fraud.

Experience

Prior to joining Devonshires, David was heavily involved in the fallout from the Icelandic banking collapse and conducting litigation in the UK, Iceland, Luxembourg, France and the Channel islands.

David also worked in-house at a litigation funder. His role was to assess applications, execute contracts, secure ATE insurance and monitor multi-million pound funding in the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand, the team successfully deployed and profited from over £30 million in funding.

Personal

David has spent much of personal life playing, watching and coaching rugby at various levels. His recent successes have come not with a ball in hand but a whistle, as a qualified international tag rugby referee. David is a keen traveller and has fond memories of the cherry blossoms in Japan, climbing Mount Kinabalu, the Lions tour of New Zealand and scuba diving in the Gili Islands.
