Areas of Expertise

Nikki’s practice has two main areas of focus.

Dispute Resolution

Nikki’s clients include companies, charities, Registered Providers, facilities managers, public sector service providers, and high net worth individuals. Her general commercial litigation practice includes handling business critical technology disputes, issues arising from PFI contracts and other public sector provider contracts, professional negligence, trusts and debt recovery.

Nikki regularly conducts complex fraud investigations and subsequent court proceedings, as well as engaging with regulators, insurers and other stakeholders in relation to these issues.

In addition, Nikki is experienced at reputation management, including engaging with in-house communications team and external PR, and advising on defamation and malicious communications.

Inquests, Judicial Review and Public Law

Nikki is very experienced at judicial review and public law cases and has over ten years’ experience in cases arising from the justice sector.  Cases of this nature often involve consideration of human rights law and equality legislation.

Nikki has extensive experience in inquests, including long-running proceedings involving several properly interested parties, dozens of witnesses, significant disputes as to facts, disclosure issues and risk of potential future police investigations or prosecutions.  As part of her inquest expertise Nikki is adept at advising on vulnerable witnesses, special measures, public interest immunity and judicial review challenges.

Experience

Prior to joining Devonshires, Nikki completed a specialist litigation and dispute resolution training contract at Harrowells, a regional firm based in North and East Yorkshire.

Education

Nikki read Law at the University of Cambridge before completing her LPC at the University of Law in York.

Personal

Nikki is on the Board of Golden Lane Housing, a leading provider of specialised social housing for adults with a learning disability or autism. Its mission is to help people with a learning disability or autism find and enjoy a suitable home with advice and housing.

Nikki is also a recent convert to cold-water swimming and swims regularly at Tooting Bec Lido.
