Chris spends his time outside the office being a taxi service to his 3 children as well as pursuing a fondness for running – recently discovered whilst taking part in a charity 10K for our northern partner charity, St George’s Crypt.

Chris advises borrowers, funders and trustees on all aspects of security related transactions in the social and affordable housing sector such as syndicated and bilateral loan financings, private placements, bond issues, group restructurings and large-scale voluntary transfers.
Chris has been a specialist housing practitioner since 2000. Prior to joining Devonshires in 2017, Chris was a Legal Director at Addleshaw Goddard. He now heads up our office in Leeds, advising on all aspects of housing finance security work.
Chris is a tier 1 ranked lawyer in the latest edition of Legal 500.
He is also ranked as a key individual (Band 2) in the field of Social Housing Finance (UK wide) by Chambers 2019, in which clients note that “He is a pleasure to work with, his technical knowledge is impressive, and his knowledge of funders’ requirements is invaluable.”
Chris regularly delivers structured training sessions to his clients’ teams.
Chris is a founder member of the sector’s Property Finance Working Group
Chris advised Onward Homes on the security arrangements for its group restructuring and refinancing.
Chris led our property team on a US investor backed REIT structured Private Placement involving Triple Point.
Chris advised The Riverside Group on various bilateral and syndicateable security transactions.
Chris advised Beyond Housing on the restructuring and refinancing of its two secured LSVT portfolios.
Chris participated in the sector working group established to mould the Housing and Planning Act 2016 and is a founder member of the Property Finance Working Group.
