James joined the Construction team at Devonshires in March 2022 and specialises in construction dispute resolution, health & safety and regulatory law. James has experience acting on broad range of clients including registered providers, housing associations, developers, contractors and private clients.
In January 2024, James became responsible for assisting with knowledge development and sharing within the Housing Management and Property Litigation team with particular focus on Building Safety developments.
James works closely with all the team’s lawyers and other knowledge specialists across the firm’s practice areas. Prior to joining Devonshires, James practiced at a UK Top 200 East Anglian firm within the Legal 500 recognised construction department.

Advising on the response to an alleged misrepresentation claim against a district council.
Advising a large Southern based RP on the Tenant Satisfaction Measures technical requirements and their obligations to both tenants and the Regulator of Social Housing.
Assisted with H&S due diligence for the merger of two Housing Associations.
Advising a leading South East housing provider on their CDM responsibilities.
Acting for a contractor in relation to a claim under the Consumer Right Act 2015.
Advising clients on new statutory duties under the Building Safety Act 2022.
