Jonathan has worked with clients on a variety of development projects from large scale regenerations to the delivery of a single new property. His work covers advising clients on a wide spectrum of documentation including JV agreements, development agreements, option agreements, conditional contracts, planning agreements and managing disposals of completed developments for Registered Providers and private developers.

Jonathan also works closely with our corporate and governance team in relation to ensuring that clients have the right structures in place to deliver and fund their development programmes. This includes interacting with regulatory bodies and commercial lending institutions to ensure that client objectives are not delayed.

Experience

Prior to Devonshires Solicitors, Jonathan worked as a development lawyer at a leading regional firm where he acted for a wide variety of private residential developers and leading property finance institutions in relation to the provision of development finance.

Jonathan graduated from Sussex University with an LLB in Law, before completing his LPC at the College of Law in London.

Notable Cases

As part of the trend of those operating within the housing sector looking to explore new exciting opportunities, Jonathan recently acted as lead partner on behalf of Spectrum Housing Group in relation to a joint venture with Galliford Try in relation to a development of a 1,600 housing scheme with associated infrastructure worth a reported £400 million over a period of 20 years. The transaction involved both Devonshires Solicitors Real Estate and Banking and Governance teams working together to provide the client with assistance in developing an effective structure in order to ensure the delivery of the venture.

Jonathan advises numerous Registered Providers in relation to the acquisition of key strategic development sites in order to assist in meeting agreed targets with the HCA and GLA.

Jonathan recently acted on behalf of Thames Valley in relation to securing new joint venture projects with Galliford Try. This included providing advice and support in relation to finance and pre-sale contract arrangements.
