Solicitor (Commercial Property) 1-3 years PQE

Job Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to work on high quality diverse work across a leading commercial property platform.  The role will involve supporting Partners and the wider department across a broad range of commercial real estate matters, with full exposure to high value and complex transactions.

The successful candidate will be working with a broad client base including:

  • Commercial clients and corporate occupiers
  • Institutional investors and investment funds
  • Registered housing providers and developers
  • Lenders, funders and financial institutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded driven individual who is confident with clients and looking to be involved in growing and developing our already strong commercial practice.  

The Team

Our Commercial Property team is central to the Firm’s market-leading profile, delivering high quality work across acquisitions, disposals, development, investment, asset management, funding and large-scale regeneration projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advising on a broad range of commercial property matters including acquisitions, disposals, development, landlord and tenant work and investment transactions;
  • Handling real estate finance matters, including acting for borrowers and lenders (funding experience desired);
  • Supporting partners and contributing to the management of large transactions and projects;
  • Building and management client relationships with commercial awareness and a solutions-focused approach;
  • To provide support and supervision to other fee earners across the team and to share knowledge as and when required;
  • Assisting with business development activities, networking, and thought leadership to support the growth of the Commercial Property team;
  • To provide exceptional client service aligned with Devonshires’ standards of quality and professionalism;
  • To follow department procedures, the Solicitors’ accounts rules and the Firm’s policies and procedures as detailed in the Office Manual, including LEXCEL;
  • Undertake such duties and tasks that are appropriate for the role of Solicitor such as changes in information systems and new technology as may reasonably be required;

Person Specification

Attributes and Skills Required

  • Admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales with 1-3 years post qualification experience in commercial property;
  • CILEx Lawyers must have Conveyancing Practice Rights;
  • Demonstrable strong technical experience across core real estate matters;
  • Experience in Real Estate Finance or Funding transactions would be highly advantageous;
  • Demonstrable ability to manage transactions independently and as part of a larger team;
  • Confident in building relationships, with clients, stakeholders and colleagues;
  • Commercial and strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication, drafting and negotiation skills;
  • Collaborative and proactive, used to and enjoys working in a fast paced environment;
  • Keen to support and help grow a thriving Commercial Property practice;
  • Committed to high professional and ethical standards;
  • Motivated to contribute to team culture, positive and approachable;
  • To be familiar with Word, Outlook, and Internet applications.
