Debt capital markets security is a long‑established core strength at Devonshires. We advise Registered Providers and Registered Social Landlords on bonds and private placements, focusing on the property security and due diligence that underpin long‑term funding arrangements.
Our team ensures that property security is properly constituted, clearly documented and capable of supporting funding over its full life. Bonds and private placements are typically less relationship‑driven and more documentation‑heavy, which places particular importance on accuracy, consistency and delivery.
We combine deep experience in social housing finance with practical, solutions‑led property due diligence. Working closely with banks and financial advisers to the sector, we identify and resolve security issues early, helping you avoid delays once transactions are underway.
Devonshires is independently ranked Band 1 for Social Housing Finance in both Chambers UK and Legal 500. That recognition reflects our sustained track record of supporting complex bond and private placement transactions through robust, well‑managed property security.
We regularly advise clients on bonds and private placements, providing focused legal advice on property security and associated due diligence. Our role centres on charging properties, managing releases and recharges of security, and delivering large‑scale charging programmes efficiently and accurately.
Our team work alongside lenders, banks and financial advisers, ensuring that security documentation is deliverable in practice and aligned with the requirements of the funding arrangement.
Our recent experience includes:
These matters illustrate our ability to deliver property security solutions that are proportionate, defensible and tailored to the realities of long‑term social housing funding.
Our debt capital markets security work is led by Sharon Kirkham, Partner and Head of the Property Security team. She is supported by Partners Chris Drabble, Saghar Roya, Carlos Fernandes, and Rachel Eldridge. Collectively, they lead a team of more than 30 specialists dedicated to property charging and wider security work.
The team operates as a single unit across our London, Leeds and Colchester offices, supported by our Devonshires Toolkit. This enables us to manage high‑volume charging exercises with consistency, while maintaining the level of scrutiny required for bond and private placement transactions.
Sharon has worked in the Property Security team since 1994, and the wider team brings more than 170 years of combined experience. That depth of experience allows us to guide you through complex property security exercises with clarity, judgement and confidence.
