Aruna graduated from the University of Leicester with an LLB in Law and an LLM in International Commercial Law. Aruna was awarded a PGD in Advanced Commercial Property Law while practicing as a solicitor.

Aruna has extensive experience providing advice on all aspects of residential development and regeneration projects. She has a diverse client base and acts for public and private sector organisations including house builders, registered providers and local authorities.
Aruna’s expertise includes dealing with high value and large volume stock rationalisation projects and she regularly provides training in this area to both registered provider and institutional investor clients. In addition, Aruna works closely with her clients in order to fully understand what is driving the transaction forward and provides tailored, pragmatic advice.
Aruna is a partner in our Real Estate and Projects department and joined the firm in 2009.
Aruna is a member of the London board of Women in Social Housing, a national networking group for women working in social housing at all stages of their careers.
Aruna acted on behalf of a Registered Provider in relation to a collaboration agreement with a hospital trust to jointly market and dispose of a high value property in the West End. As well as negotiating the terms of the collaboration, Aruna drafted the transfer and contract for the disposal and ran a contract race between the two preferred bidders.
Aruna acted on behalf of a Registered Provider end purchaser in a number of sub-sale transactions for the purchase of land for development. The transactions involved both registered and unregistered land and included negotiating overage provisions in the event that revised planning permission was granted for a greater number of residential units.
Aruna acted on behalf of a client in the purchase of a former church in Bow for redevelopment into 38 residential units with a church and community hall. The contract was conditional on a number of matters including the grant of satisfactory planning permission and the satisfaction of the client’s financial viability test, which Aruna created the formula for. Aruna also drafted and negotiated the lease back to the seller of the church and drafted and negotiated the development agreement.
Aruna acted on behalf of a Registered Provider in the sale of 398 residential units in Bournemouth to another Registered Provider.
Aruna acted on behalf of a Registered Provider in the acquisition of 183 residential units in Eastbourne.
Aruna negotiated a section 106 agreement for a development in involving 139 residential units, affordable business space and commercial business space. Following completion Aruna assisted the client in managing their obligations pursuant to the agreement.
Aruna managed the acquisition of over 355 tenanted residential properties with complex section 106 obligations and outstanding building contract requirements.
Aruna drafted and negotiated a management agreement for the management of a portfolio of 12 freehold properties with an option for the manager to purchase the properties after a period of 8 years had elapsed, including a formula for ascertaining the price to be paid.
